Star Wars was first released in US movie theatres on 25 May 1977, and Return of the Jedi on 25 May 1983. These photographs are headed “Darth Vader came to school” in a photo book of Richmond Park School activities and events from the 1980s. Richmond Park School was located in Melville, Hamilton. The school opened in 1959 and was closed in 2004. The archives of the school are contained in Ministry of Education Hamilton closed schools records, currently being arranged and described by staff at Archives New Zealand Auckland Office.
