Foal and mare on Butts Lawn, New Forest. Foals on the Forest are wary of people at first, but soon become used to them. They may look cute but they are still semi-wild (i.e. they are owned by someone but they spend most of their time grazing out on the open Forest). Trying to feed them is a bad idea - apart from being against the by-laws - as the mothers are protective, and they will also learn to become a nuisance to other people later on.
