Pony grazing on a bowl barrow, Hatchet Moor, New Forest. The Bronze Age bowl barrows are the only other man-made features in this grid square (apart from the ground-level remains of the Second World War airfield). The majority of the barrows are not very conspicuous, and the barrow that this pony is standing on is not a tall one, but stands out on the flat and featureless heath. A dark green mossy kind of grass grows on the barrows and is not found elsewhere on the heath, making it stand out in colour as well.
