Pony grazing on Cadnam Common, New Forest Cadnam Common is an "adjacent common" of the New Forest - not part of the commonable Crown lands but owned by the National Trust which has its own commoning scheme. Close grazing by ponies and cattle has converted the heathery heath to grass. As summer approaches the flies become more of a nuisance to the animals and their tails are constantly swishing to try and keep the flies away.
