Knäcken the fat cat was supreme ruler of the central square in Visby. The square is the main restaurant square in town, and he spent most of his time begging guests for food and generally owning the place. He belonged to a family living near the square but soon became a celebrity in town. When he died, a bronze statue of him was erected in the square near his favorite perch.
